The 50-Foot Runway Santa (Salt Lake City, Utah)

A car dealership in Salt Lake City, Utah, tied a massive, 50-foot inflatable Santa Claus to its roof to attract holiday shoppers. During a heavy canyon windstorm, the steel anchor cables snapped completely. The building-sized Santa went airborne and tumbled end-over-end across six lanes of Interstate 15 traffic. Shocked drivers slammed on their brakes as the giant, smiling figure bounced across the highway. State troopers had to shut down three lanes during the holiday rush to chase, corner, and deflate the rogue holiday display against a concrete barrier.
