New Singapore Social Media and Scam Regulations Introduced
Singapore has introduced a new Social Media Code. Major platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok must verify the identities of their advertisers using official government records. Additionally, WhatsApp and Telegram have been highlighted by the police as high-risk platforms for scams. Failure to comply with these digital safety mandates can carry fines of up to S$1 million under the Online Criminal Harms Act.
