Tails of Rescue Cats - The Same-Day Savior Named Pudding

When Amy Jung visited the Door County Humane Society in Wisconsin, she was drawn to a heavy, sweet-tempered 21-pound orange-and-white feline named Pudding. Figuring the older cat deserved a comfortable home, Amy signed the adoption papers and brought him back to her house that afternoon. She never could have anticipated that by the end of the night, the animal she just rescued would end up saving her life.

Hours after falling asleep, Amy—a long-time diabetic—suffered a sudden and severe nocturnal diabetic seizure. She slipped entirely into an unresponsive state, helpless and unable to call for her son, Ethan.
Pudding, who had been in his new environment for less than a full day, immediately sensed something was terribly wrong with his new human. Driven by sheer instinct, the massive cat jumped directly onto Amy’s chest. He began frantically swatting at her face and biting her nose until she groggily regained consciousness.
Once Amy stirred, Pudding knew his job wasn't finished. He dashed out of the bedroom and ran straight into Ethan’s room, pouncing on the teenager's bed to wake him up. Ethan rushed to his mother’s side and successfully administered a life-saving glucose injection, stopping the seizure before she slipped into a fatal coma.
Medical professionals later confirmed that Pudding’s swift and urgent intervention directly prevented a tragedy. Following the miraculous event, Pudding was officially registered as a therapy animal. His story remains a beautiful reminder that when we open our homes to a rescue animal, they may just give us our lives back in return.
