A Boyfriend for Christmas

A Boyfriend for Christmas is a 2004 American made-for-television romantic Christmas film starring Patrick Muldoon and Kelli Williams. Directed by Kevin Connor and written by Roger Schroeder, it aired November 27, 2004 on the Hallmark Channel.

Synopsis

After helping a boy take his little sister to see Santa, 13-year-old Holly Grant tells a shopping mall Santa Claus that she would like to have a boyfriend for Christmas. Twenty years later, Holly is a romantic skeptic and is more focused on her career as a social worker. At the time, she is in court helping a mother get her children back from foster care. When the mother's lawyer, Ryan Hughes, does not show up in court, Holly is extremely angry and sends Hughes a letter via her secretary.

On Christmas Day, she opens her door to a man carrying a Christmas tree and a bow on his chest. He hands her a note that says, "As promised, one boyfriend for Christmas," and introduces himself as "Douglas Firwood". She assumes he is a gag present from her friend Diane, and invites him into her home. Later that day she takes him with her to her parents' house for Christmas dinner. Hoping to keep her matchmaking family, especially her manipulative sister-in-law Carol, off her back, she tells everyone that Douglas is her long-term boyfriend, and Douglas plays along.

On New Year's Eve, Holly learns from her scheming ex-boyfriend Ted that Douglas is really Ryan Hughes, who was sent to her by Santa Claus. She accuses him of lying to her and tells him to leave. After persuasion by Santa Claus and refusing Ted's marriage proposal, she follows Ryan. They meet up at a park, where they finally remember where they first met - at age 13 when she helped him take his little sister to see Santa - and they watch the New Year's fireworks together.

A Carol Christmas

A Carol Christmas is a TV movie starring Tori Spelling, Dinah Manoff, William Shatner, Jason Brooks and Gary Coleman. It premiered on the Hallmark Channel in 2003. The film is an adaptation of Charles Dickens' 1843 novella A Christmas Carol.[1]

Synopsis
Carol Cartman is a conceited sensationalist talk show host. She is cynical, selfish, and generally treats her employees with cold contempt. She has been coached by her late Aunt Marla to behave this way, and holds true to it; she despises Christmas and values hardly anyone.

On Christmas Eve, several hours before her talk show is set to go on the air for a holiday special, Carol is haunted by the spirit of Aunt Marla, who is bound in golden chains that were forged by her misdeeds in life. Aunt Marla warns Carol of the mistakes she made in her own life, and the terrible similar fate awaiting Carol if she does not change. Aunt Marla warns her that she will be visited by three spirits that will show her her wrongs and attempt to steer her back on the right path.

At 12 noon, the Ghost of Christmas Past shows Carol incidents from her childhood to adulthood where Aunt Marla shaped Carol into the person she is in the present: Marla fought for Carol to get the lead role in a Christmas play over another little girl who deserved the part, drove away her boyfriend, John Joyce, who was going to propose marriage to her, and pushed to advance her niece's career in order to bolster herself financially. Carol and the ghost's last stop is Aunt Marla's sparsely-attended funeral.

The Ghost of Christmas Present takes Carol to see how John, her sister Beth, and assistant Roberta will spend this Christmas. John continues his work helping to feed the homeless, while Beth and her husband read A Christmas Carol to their children. Roberta's festivities with her daughter Lily and Carol's studio manager Jimmy are disrupted by a visit by Roberta's ex-husband and Lily's father Frank. The two addresses each other bitterly, and he reveals that he intends to take her to court for custody of Lily, and presents her with a document stating the same.

The Ghost of Christmas Future is a mute limo driver who takes Carol on a tour, showing her what will happen the following Christmas if she does not change. Carol walks off her show after refusing to do a segment that hits too close to home for her, and her studio boss sues her for breach of contract; as a result, her career bottoms out and she is reduced to poverty and making low-level community appearances. Finally, Carol watches herself die and learns that her funeral will have even fewer attendees than that of her Aunt Marla, with only Roberta and Jimmy attending. Roberta reveals that Lily is now married and living in Chicago, and the two do not speak to each other much due to the former's belief that her mother prioritized work over her. Suddenly stuck in a coffin, Carol pleads for another chance at life. The ghost shakes his head and closes it, but Carol wakes up in her dressing room soon, terrified.

Changed by the encounters with the ghosts, Carol becomes a warm, caring person, and vows to make amends. She goes on to her television show and gives a touching speech to her audience about the importance of Christmas and giving. She also gives Roberta a raise, and time to be with Lily, and offers her her lawyer's assistance against her ex-husband's (future) attempt to get custody of Lily. After the show, she goes to her sister's house to spend the holidays with Beth and her family and reconciles with John, who has retained his feelings for her over the years.

At the very end, the three Christmas Spirits reappear outside Beth's house and comment on their work at transforming Carol Cartman. They watch and listen as Beth's son recites the last line of A Christmas Carol: "God bless us, every one!"

The Beach House

The Beach House is a 2018 American made-for-television drama film directed by Roger Spottiswoode based on the 2002 novel by Mary Alice Monroe. It stars Minka Kelly, Andie MacDowell, Chad Michael Murray, Donna Biscoe and Makenzie Vega.

Returning to her family beach house upon her mother Lovie's request, Caretta plans to soon return to Chicago until unexpected events change her mind.

Synopsis
Caretta "Cara" Rudland loses her advertising job in Chicago and returns to the family beach house in South Carolina at the request of her mother Lovie. Not long after Cara arrives, Lovie tries to set her up with an old flame, Brett Beauchamps. Having just gotten out of a relationship and not planning on staying for very long, Cara resists.

Lovie works with her friend Flo and other locals to protect wild sea turtles during their spawning cycle. Cara has always resented her mother's devotion to the turtles (Lovie went so far as to source the name "Caretta" from the scientific name for loggerheads). Cara is also initially jealous when she meets Toy Sooner, a single, pregnant 20-year-old whom Lovie has taken in.

In addition, Cara must contend with Palmer, her assertive, ambitious brother. Their relationship is tense, as he resents her for moving to Chicago and leaving him to deal with their late father, who was a domineering man. He announces plans to move Lovie in with his family and put up condos on the property where the beach house currently stands. Cara and Lovie object, but Palmer refuses to listen.

When Lovie reveals that she has terminal cancer and likely will not live much longer, Cara attempts to restore their relationship. She helps out by fixing up the house and marking the turtles' nests on the beach. Faced with the reality of death, Lovie finds the courage to stand up to Palmer, taking back control of her finances and planning to leave the beach house to Cara.

During a hurricane, Flo digs up the turtle eggs, despite it being illegal, and brings them to the beach house for safe keeping. Toy is rescued from the elements by Brett before she gives birth three weeks early. After the hurricane, they all reunite. Cara and Brett rekindle their romance, Palmer comes to terms with his mother's wishes and cancer diagnosis, and Lovie and Flo rebury the turtle eggs on the beach. At the end of the summer, Lovie dies peacefully.

One year later Cara is still living in South Carolina, is in a loving relationship with Brett, and helps oversee the turtles hatching.

Synopsis

A preacher (Kevin Sorbo) witnesses his family and a group of refugees seeking shelter in his church murdered by a gang of ruthless outlaws led by Colonel Cusack (Wings Hauser). After his wife makes him promise to never seek revenge, he instead becomes a bounty hunter. When he steps in to defend a woman in a saloon, the bad guy and his two friends (who happen to be allied with The Colonel), give him a beating and toss him into the street.

A woman with a "past", named Maggie (Cynthia Watros), takes him in to care for him. He stays in her extra room, but she insists he give up his gun while at her home because she has a daughter.

The local sheriff, on Cusacks's payroll, is meanwhile trying to run off some squatters. The Sheriff's gang attempts to intimidate the squatters, but once The Preacher learns of the Sheriff's and The Colonel's dealings, he visits the squatters, who tell him they paid for the land but never got the deed. A few days later the Sheriff's posse burns down a few of the squatter's tents.

The Preacher attempts to negotiate peacefully with the Sheriff, and so visits Cusack. Cusack tries to persuade The Preacher to join his mob, which he refuses. The Sheriff then sends a message to The Preacher by having some of his men rough up Maggie. Unarmed still because of his agreement with Maggie, The Preacher catches the gang in the act and overcomes one of the men's guns, scaring the men off.

The Preacher gets his gun back from Maggie and sets out to visit the Squatters again, and is met by the Sheriff and some of his gang. The Preacher, now armed, tells the Sheriff that the squatters have a right to stay. Gunfire ensues, and The Preacher shoots the sheriff. The rest of the bad guys run off.

The Preacher then pays a visit to Cusack for a final showdown, and obtains the deed for the squatters. As he turns to leave, having satisfied his purpose for the visit, the Colonel tries to shoot him, but The Preacher is faster and kills Cusack. The Preacher returns to Maggie and her daughter.

Synopsis

Homeless woman Yvonne Caldwell (Chandra Wilson) is a woman with good reason to be bitter: she has lost everything except her two beloved dogs, Bebe and Man-Man. With her one friend, Wes (Ben Vereen), Caldwell lives the daily struggle of being homeless in Los Angeles until a chance encounter caused by her dogs leads to a friendship with LAPD officer Tami Baumann (Kathleen Munroe), and hope for a better life begins in earnest for Yvonne. True story

In real life, Yvonne Caldwell met Officer Tami Baumann, an officer at LAPD’s 77th Street Division, in 2003. It was Yvonne’s three dogs that caught Tami’s attention, and the overwhelming care she took of the strays. Tami, who was well known in the department for her love of animals – and who had been finding homes for strays since she was a child – used this connection to form a bond with Yvonne.

Over time, Yvonne began to open up to Tami, relating her gradual fall into poverty, a tale of struggling with abuse and abandonment which led to a long battle with alcoholism. By mid-2001, her prized SUV was her home and only possession, but that too was taken from her when she couldn’t afford the fees to release it from impound after it was stolen. Fortunately, Tami was eventually able to convince Yvonne to enter rehab and embark on a program designed to save her life.

Dennis has a brief fit of rage at Therese and later lands one punch on Rene. Homeless and desperate for work as there is a recession, he reluctantly asks Rene if he can go with him to sell Christmas trees in New York City. Dennis wants to make enough money to buy his estranged daughter the piano she has always wanted.

In Brooklyn, Dennis gets thrown out of a café and the following day has an altercation with another tree salesman. Finally Olga, a Russian-born woman, buys the first tree and they gradually start hustling and moving their trees.

Olga asks Dennis to straighten the tree as an excuse, to the house where she cleans for a couple of dentists, offering him food and a shower. The next day the men are hit with a tree selling rush. Amidst the sales, Rene's wife Marie calls, letting him know she wants him to sign the divorce papers. Upset, he takes off for a few days, so Dennis is left in charge.

When Rene reappears, he has an engagement ring for Therese. Dennis becomes irate, telling two guys looking to buy a tree that his friend stole his wife from him while he was in prison. He becomes inspired to call his ex collect, but she does not accept the charges. Distraught, he visits Olga the next day and asks her to help him find his daughter a piano.

Olga visits them at their tree-selling lot with vodka, and she, Rene, Dennis and Nzomo, an African who had helped with the tree selling, drink through the night. The next day, as Dennis and Rene are robbed by a supposedly blind man who had bought a tree from them, Dennis convinces Olga to help them take the dentists' Steinway.

Returning to their small Quebec town, Dennis watches from a distance as Michi plays her new piano, then hugs her mom and Rene happily.

Synopsis
Professional Whalers football player Mike Hanson gets seriously injured shortly after recovery from another injury, so must go into the injured reserve. Nursing broken ribs, he returns to his hometown to his brother Jimmy's. While there, Mike is convinced to assistant coach his niece Zoey's all-girl flag football team.

Single mother real estate agent Erin Allen's 12-year-old daughter Kira plays in the flag football league. One day, while sharing the field with another team during practice, Kira notices the all-girl flag football team. As her male teammates refuse to pass to her, she convinces Erin to help her join it.

Erin asks coach Jimmy to let Kira join, then realizes Mike, the college boyfriend she broke up with, is assistant coaching the all-girl team. Initially, they act awkwardly, but she watches over him so he does not strain his healing rib cage. Erin tells her real estate partner Georgina about seeing Mike, admitting she broke his heart.

Meanwhile, Jimmy and his wife Danielle pump Mike for details, which he insists there are none. Later, at the Whalers flag-football team's fundraiser, the coordinator is surprised that both Danielle and Erin offer to approach the football star for help, unaware of their connection to him.

Afterwards, the former introduces herself to the latter, explaining she is his sister-in-law. Erin says he is a college friend. Danielle invites her to a barbecue that evening.

When Erin and Kira arrive, Mike gets visibly nervous. Jimmy and Danielle find an excuse to leave them alone. When Grandma Gertie and her boyfriend appear, they are also encouraged to leave Erin and Mike alone.

Erin and Mike talk catch up. He is preoccupied about his future on The Whalers, due to the back-to-back injuries. Erin explains she became a full-time housewife when Kira was born, then her husband left her. So she and Georgina started their real estate business.

Attempting to talk about their college break up, Mike is obviously still upset and Erin will not explain herself. So, she suggests they keep their distance while he is here. They enter the house to tell Jimmy and Danielle.

Jimmy reveals the high school has offered him an assistant coach job, which he plans to take. However, he is concerned about the middle school flag football team. Erin and Mike talk privately and ultimately agree to try to be friends for the team.

Erin, with her kinesiology degree, constantly watches that Mike not hurt himself. After practice, as Jimmy and Danielle cannot get him, she and Kira give him a ride. Since they are having lasagna, Kira convinces Erin to invite Mike.

As Erin and Mike spend time together again, their romantic past feelings resurface. With Kira on a sleepover with her team, Mike invites the free Erin to a charity event at the local nursing home. They have a nice time, so the next day she is distracted at work, prompting Georgina to suggest she might be in love.

The girls' team reaches the final. As they start to play, Mike's manager Richard appears, saying he has been reinstated on the team, so must leave immediately to prepare to play the next day. Richard approaches Erin, complaining that she is distracting him from what is important, to hurry back to work. She reminds him he had already convinced her to walk away from Mike once, insisting it was his best option to be drafted.

As Michael leaves with Richard, he realizes he has blocked his relationship with Erin twice. By phone, he proposes a game-winning play to the flag team. Mike is reinstated on his team and in the last play, just as with the flag football team, he suggests they do a fake to win.

After the game, Richard criticizes Mike for not scoring the last goal. Mike reveals the team manager offered him to stay through the end of his career with a pay adjustment, which he accepted. Richard protests, so Mike states he is no longer his agent effective immediately.

Erin appears at the stadium, announcing she will be with him, regardless of his team. Mike happily informs her he will stay, finishing his career with the Whalers. They mutually declare their love, then kiss.

Synopsis

In November 1993, Will Freeman lives a carefree lifestyle in London without any responsibility or commitments, thanks to royalties left to him by his father's successful Christmas song. He rejects the common phrase, "No man is an island," insisting that he lives happily as an island, despite disapproval from his married friends.

After a fulfilling and guilt-free fling with a single mother, Will joins the Single Parents Alone Together (SPAT) community group under the pretence that he is the father to an imaginary child, aiming to have the same experience again. He meets Suzie, whom he is attracted to, and Marcus, the socially awkward son of one of Suzie's friends, Fiona, unexpectedly on a planned playdate. When Will and Suzie take Marcus home, they find Fiona (who suffers bouts of depression) has attempted suicide and rush her to the hospital.

Marcus is very close to his mother but has no friends at school and is frequently bullied due to his awkward nature and appearance. Concerned that he may be left on his own if his mother succeeds at killing herself in the future, he becomes determined to find her a boyfriend and creates an awkward lunch date with Will, who is uninterested in Fiona.

Marcus spends a few days following Will and discovers Will's supposed toddler son does not exist. He uses the information to blackmail Will into dating Fiona, but Will refuses. Despite this, Marcus continues turning up at Will's home to watch television after school. They slowly form a bond, strengthened by Will buying Marcus cool new shoes to help him fit in better at school. However, the bullies steal the shoes, and Marcus is forced to confess to his mother that Will bought them, revealing they have formed a friendship and that Will is not a father.

Fiona confronts Will and demands an explanation. He retorts that he is only building confidence in Marcus because he is routinely humiliated and bullied at school. Though Will promises to cease further contact with Marcus, Fiona recognises that Will's genuine interest in her son is good for both of them.

Will joins Marcus and Fiona for Christmas, giving Marcus a Mystikal album and a portable CD player. Despite a tense exchange with Suzie, who has been made aware of Will's deception, he is asked to stay for Christmas dinner and genuinely enjoys his day with Marcus' family.

As Marcus develops a crush on a girl at school named Ellie, Will also meets Rachel, who seems interested in him initially but is turned off by his lack of profession or direction in life. When she begins discussing her son, Ali, Will mentions Marcus, and he allows her to assume Marcus is his son. For the first time, Will has developed a serious interest in a woman and asks Marcus to pose as his son.

Will grows closer to Rachel and eventually makes the awkward confession that Marcus is not his son, suggesting that Rachel is to blame for making the assumption. She then ends the relationship.

Fiona's depression returns, and Marcus goes to Will for help. Will, however, is still upset over his breakup and lashes out at him. He soon finds his previous life of self-dependence unfulfilling, missing Marcus's company. Will decides to reconcile with Marcus and talks to Fiona about her depression, but then finds out from her that he is due to perform at a school talent show that night, which would ultimately result in him being humiliated for the rest of his school life. As expected, Marcus' performance is greeted with brutal mockery, but Will joins in with a guitar, ultimately saving him from total humiliation.

By the next Christmas, Will and Rachel are together, and he has permanently abandoned his previous lifestyle. Will invites one of his Amnesty International colleagues to set him up with Fiona, and Marcus and Ellie remain good friends.

The Good Witch

The Good Witch is a television film that aired on the Hallmark Channel on January 19, 2008. It stars Catherine Bell as Cassandra "Cassie" Nightingale and Chris Potter as chief of police Jake Russell. The film has spawned a franchise of six followup television films and the television series Good Witch.

Plot

The town of Middleton is shaken up by the arrival of the mysterious, beautiful Cassandra, "Cassie" Nightingale, who has moved into Grey House—an old, abandoned building supposedly haunted by its former owner and Cassie's ancestor Elizabeth Merriwick, known as "The Grey Lady". Martha Tinsdale, wife of the town's mayor, demands that Police Chief Jake Russell investigate reports of a woman occupying the house; together, they meet Cassie, who answers questions evasively but makes clear she is the home's owner and resident.

Later, a dog named Attila chases Jake's children, Brandon and Lori, on their way home from school. They end up at Grey House, where Lori falls and scrapes her knee. Cassie appears and the dog leaves in response to her verbal admonishment. Cassie invites the children inside and tends to Lori's knee with an herbal poultice. Attila's owner Rusty complains to Jake that his guard dog has become completely docile, so Jake meets with Cassie, quickly establishing that the entire incident occurred on Cassie's property, negating Rusty's complaint. Jake is surprised to learn that she has met his children. Cassie invites him to visit her at Grey House or the shop she plans to open on Main Street.

Jake's wife died three years earlier; Brandon has become surly and withdrawn, while Lori has nightmares. Lori asks Cassie about stopping the nightmares; Cassie gives her a dreamcatcher and uses reverse psychology to get her to dream about bunnies instead. Meanwhile, Brandon's classmate Kyle has been threatening Brandon and demanding his lunch money

Cassie opens her shop, "Bell, Book, & Candle", specializing in herbs and curiosities. She sells an aphrodisiac essential oil to a woman named Nancy; she and her husband have experienced infertility, but later she successfully conceives. Meanwhile the Mayor's busybody wife believes Cassie's wares are associated with witchcraft. After Martha falls over a display while recoiling from the merchandise, she accuses Cassie of assault. When Jake goes to see Cassie, he learns she has hired Walter Cobb, a homeless alcoholic, to assist in renovations while living onsite. Jake declines to file charges, concluding Martha's fall was accidental, displeasing Martha's husband, Mayor Tom Tinsdale, who demands Jake run a background check on Cassie. After Jake finds no record of a "Cassandra Nightingale", she admits to him that she ran away from foster care after her parents died in a car crash. He asks her to dinner and she accepts.

Brandon and Lori are now convinced Cassie is a "good witch" who can perform magic. Brandon asks Cassie for help with Kyle, and she agrees to turn him into "something less threatening", but sets conditions that require Brandon to spend time with Kyle. Brandon learns Kyle steals money to placate his abusive father; he confides the situation to Jake, who welcomes Kyle when Brandon brings him round to play video games. Jake's father-in-law, George, introduces himself to Cassie due to her increasing involvement with his family. She quickly befriends him and convinces him to fulfil his lifelong ambition of visiting his ancestral homeland of Ireland.

Martha rouses a group of townspeople against Cassie for her supposed practice of "dark arts" and her association with Walter Cobb. She gathers signatures to revoke Cassie's business license and Cassie cancels the dinner to avoid any conflict of interest for Jake. But at George's urging, Jake goes to see her and finds she has already prepared an intimate dinner for them to enjoy at Grey House. She reveals her given name, "Sue Ellen Brock", and Jake acknowledges that her chosen name suits her better.

Cassie hosts a Halloween party, but most of the townspeople force their children to stay away. Jake's family attend, as do Walter, Nancy and her husband, and Kyle. Cassie believes Martha will succeed in driving her out of town, but Jake urges her to change her defeatist mindset of "running away". Jake's deputy, Derrick, catches Martha's sons Michael and Dylan vandalizing Cassie's shop. Cassie refuses to press charges and Tom demands Martha drop her destructive vendetta, also ordering his sons to work off their debt to Cassie. As Jake too helps Cassie clear up, he teases her over a broomstick that inexplicably appears in the shop.
