The Twelve-Day Wine Weather Forecast
In the historic region of Alsace, winemakers used the twelve days between Christmas and Epiphany (6th January) to predict the entire upcoming agricultural year. Each day represented one corresponding month of the new year. If it rained on 26th December, January would be wet; if 27th December was sunny, February would be dry. Winemakers meticulously logged the weather hourly to plan their vineyard maintenance.
