The Cat Who Co-Authored a Physics Paper

In 1975, a French physicist named Jack H. Hetherington finished a groundbreaking research paper on low-temperature physics. Before submitting it to a prestigious journal, a colleague noticed that Hetherington had accidentally used the royal "we" throughout the text, even though he was the sole author. Rather than retype the entire manuscript on a typewriter, Hetherington officially added his Siamese cat, Chester (under the pen name F.D.C. Willard), as his co-author.
