The Island Formed by a Giant Bear

According to Breton maritime folklore, the rugged island of Ouessant off the coast of Brittany was created during a cosmic battle. A giant, mystical bear was terrorising the coastal villages, tearing up the landscape. A local saint managed to banish the beast by hurling a massive granite boulder into the Atlantic Ocean. The impact crushed the creature, and its submerged body eventually hardened into the jagged rocks that form the island today.
