United States Media Giant Disney Sues Government Regulator Over Licensing Dispute
The Walt Disney Company and its ABC division filed a lawsuit against the Federal Communications Commission to halt an unprecedented demand for early broadcast licence renewals. Disney alleges the regulator is waging a politically motivated retaliatory campaign sparked by administration disapproval of ABC’s content. The lawsuit points to recent public social media posts where the president explicitly questioned whether ABC’s licences should be terminated. Under FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, the agency has also targeted the network over jokes made on its late-night programming and initiated reviews into Disney's corporate policies.
